Our 10-Day Temporary Shelter Home (TSH) Program provides short-term, trauma-informed care for children and youth from birth to 17 years old who have been removed from their homes for their safety and protection or are awaiting placement following court involvement.
The program offers a safe, supportive, and home-like environment designed to reduce the emotional impact of separation from parents or guardians while meeting each child’s immediate physical, emotional, and behavioral needs.
A core focus of the TSH Program is ensuring that each child’s stay is as brief and stabilizing as possible. Through individualized care, therapeutic support, crisis intervention, and multidisciplinary collaboration, the program helps children begin the healing process after experiences of abuse, neglect, abandonment, or family crisis.
The TSH Program is grounded in dignity, equity, and compassion. Services are delivered in a manner that promotes emotional safety, cultural responsiveness, and freedom from discrimination or bias. Staff work closely with resource parents, support agencies, caregivers, and community partners to develop goals and transition plans that support long-term stability and permanency.
The program prioritizes placement in Resource Family Approved (RFA) homes whenever possible, with an emphasis on healing, resiliency, sibling connection, and maintaining family relationships. By reducing placement delays and providing intensive support during transition periods, the TSH Program helps children move more quickly into stable, permanent home environments.
